New Delhi :  The devastating floods in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district have severely affected the lives of farmers and local residents. In this hour of crisis, a 40-member relief team from the Vidhān Jama Masjid, Seemapuri (Delhi), led by social activist Mukit Abbasi, reached the affected areas with aid.

The team carried relief material worth nearly ₹15 lakh, which included tarpaulins, gas cylinders, petromax lamps, blankets, mattresses, food kits, rice, flour, mustard oil, spices, cakes, biscuits, juices, milk for children, diapers, sanitary pads, torches, candles, lighters, and essential items for community kitchens (langar) to feed approximately 2,500 people.

Prominent farmer leaders Gaurav Tikait, Billu Pradhan, and Balyan Ji were notably present during the campaign. Additionally, several social workers including Haji Abdul Ghaffar, Dr. Gulab Rabbani, Shakeel Chaudhary, Kamil, Anwar, Appi Pradhan, and Sajid Khan actively contributed to the relief efforts.

During the distribution of relief materials, Mukit Abbasi became emotional and said:

> “The floods in Punjab have completely destroyed the farmers’ crops. Along with severe financial losses, hundreds of livestock have also been swept away by the strong currents. The Sikh community has always served humanity in times of crisis by organizing langars across the world. Today, when this very community is in distress, it is our duty to stand shoulder to shoulder with them. The threat of epidemics is also looming after the floods. Therefore, we will soon return here with more essential supplies.”

This relief initiative is not only a remarkable example of humanity but also conveys a profound message to society—that harmony and brotherhood transcend the boundaries of caste, religion, or creed. The campaign has emerged as a symbol of unity and cooperation among diverse communities, reaffirming that service to humanity is the greatest religion of all.
