Yamuna River: A Land of Faith and Tradition Beyond Just Soil -

On the eve of World Environment Day, the “Yamunotsav” was grandly organized under the aegis of “Yamuna Sansad” at Kamani Auditorium. The event saw a gathering of prominent figures, including Delhi Government Ministers Kapil Mishra and Ashish Sood, MPs, leaders, and environmentalists, who deliberated on the current state of the Yamuna River, its severe pollution issues, and the improvement of its banks.

Ministers and Leaders Unite for Yamuna’s Cause

Delhi’s Culture Minister, Kapil Mishra, emphasized the importance of keeping the Yamuna River clean, stating that its banks are not just mere soil but a land of faith and tradition that holds significant cultural value. Home Minister Ashish Sood highlighted the need to educate future generations about environmental sensitivity through education, starting from schools to universities, to ensure the river’s cleanliness.

Environmentalists and Social Activists Join Hands

The event also saw the participation of environmentalists, social activists, and students, who all shared a common goal of preserving the Yamuna River. The program featured a soulful santur performance by Pandit Abhay Rustam Sopori, which added to the event’s appeal.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva praised the “Yamunotsav” initiative, saying it has turned into a social campaign that requires collective efforts from all parties and citizens. MLA Rajkumar Bhatia emphasized the need for society to wake up and work towards the river’s restoration, while MP Kamaljit Sehrawat highlighted the parliamentary efforts being made to revive the Yamuna River, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally monitoring the cleanup efforts.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment to work together towards the preservation and restoration of the Yamuna River, a vital lifeline for the city and its inhabitants.
