Waterlogging in Sadar Bazar led to losses worth lakhs of rupees in shops – Festa
As soon as it rains, there is a power outage in Sadar Bazar for several hours – Pamma and Rakesh Yadav
Federation of Sadar Bazar Trades Association chairman Paramjit Singh Pamma and president Rakesh Yadav said. Due to heavy rains since morning, almost all the streets of Sadar Bazar were waterlogged and when shopkeepers tried to open their shops, water had entered inside their shops. Even Qutub Road, Teliwara, Crockery Market, Toliyawali Gali, Rui Mandi, Gandhi Market and Pan Mandi were in a very bad condition, it became difficult to even walk here, three to four feet of water had filled up.
Paramjit Singh Pammawar Rakesh Yadav said that due to waterlogging, there was a power outage for hours at some places. When we talked to the electricity officials about this, they said that the way water enters the shops, there is a fear of short circuit or electric shock, so the electricity has been turned off. On the one hand there is waterlogging and on the other hand due to power cut the entire business has come to a standstill. Pamma and Rakesh Yadav said that for many years we have been complaining to Delhi Jal Board and Delhi Municipal Corporation about waterlogging in Sadar Bazar, but neither are the drains cleaned here nor is any kind of cleaning done. The drainage system has collapsed, the 100 year old system has become dilapidated. Even the main market of Sadar Bazar comes in two parts of the Jal Board. One is Sadar Bazar Vidhansabha and the other is Ballimaran, the Jal Board officials of both escape by putting the responsibility on each other, due to which the problem of waterlogging in Sadar Bazar is increasing day by day, there is a lot of anger among the traders about this.
