Tilak and Annabhau Sathe: Timeless Beacons of Courage and Vision — Sunil Deodhar

On the eve of the birth anniversary of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe and the death anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, My Home India organized a deeply emotional and intellectually enriching program on Friday, July 31, 2025.
This gathering was not merely a tribute, but a meaningful attempt to reinterpret their ideas in the context of contemporary society and transmit them to the younger generation.
The primary objective of the event was to remember the thoughts, struggles, and transformative contributions of these great personalities and present them as a source of inspiration for nation-building.
Focusing on the literary legacy of Annabhau Sathe and the nationalist movement led by Lokmanya Tilak, the event aimed to promote social harmony, self-respect, and the core values of Indian culture.

Distinguished guests included:
Dr. Megha Kulkarni, Member of Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra (Guest of Honour)
Dr. Bhola Singh, Member of Lok Sabha from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh (Chief Guest)
Shri Sunil Deodhar, Former National Secretary of BJP and Founder of My Home India (Keynote Speaker)
All the guests eloquently highlighted the social, cultural, and political contributions of these two towering figures.
Dr. Megha Kulkarni remarked:
“The thoughts of great personalities like Annabhau Sathe and Lokmanya Tilak continue to guide us towards a more aware and enriched society. We must follow their ideals to promote harmony and justice.”
Dr. Bhola Singh stated:
“It is our collective responsibility to remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the struggle of Annabhau Sathe for social justice. Their legacy forms the foundation of our nation’s progress.”
Shri Sunil Deodhar said:
“Lokmanya Tilak and Annabhau Sathe laid not only a path for their times but also a foundation of inspiration for generations to come. Their courage and vision guide us on the road to building a strong nation.”
Speaking about Tilak, he added:
“Bal Gangadhar Tilak believed that India’s independence was synonymous with the freedom of Hindus. This is why he called for public celebrations of Shiv Jayanti and Ganesh Utsav.”
While remembering Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe, he shared:
“Coming from the Matang community, Annabhau Sathe faced deep discrimination from childhood—he attended school for only a day and a half, yet went on to write over 35 novels and many other works. Battling poverty and injustice, he sparked a literary revolution.”
Expressing confidence in PM Modi’s leadership, Shri. Sunil Deodhar highlighted ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a clear demonstration of India’s military prowess, intelligence acumen, and unwavering political resolve. He stated, ‘Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, India has delivered a decisive blow to terrorist infrastructure and sent a strong message to Pakistan that nuclear blackmail will no longer be tolerated. Modi Ji has struck with such force that Pakistan will refrain from such threats for at least the next 15 years.’
The program was chaired by Dr. K.G. Suresh, Director of India Habitat Centre and National Vice President of My Home India. He also delivered the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
In addition, several dignitaries and social activists, including Mr. Baldev Raj Sachdeva, President of My Home India (Delhi-NCR), were present.
