“The Voice of Inspiration: Shikha Malhotra’s Journey as Actor & Storyteller”
Rizwan Raza
Shikha Malhotra is a classically trained, spiritually grounded actor with over 8 years of work across Indian theatre, cinema, and digital storytelling. Based in Mumbai and New Delhi, she brings a rare blend of discipline, emotion, and purpose to her craft. A proud vegetarian and seeker at heart, Shikha treats every performance as a form of meditation: “Art, for me, is not just expression—it’s devotion.”
Her journey began under theatre maestro Arvind Gaur, later evolving through intense performances in plays like Sohni Mahiwal, The Suicide, Mandir, Baapu Aur Ba, Mughal-e-Azam 2.0, Safed Khoon, Teen Tumhari Taraf, among others. She is a B-Grade certified drama artist with All India Radio, New Delhi and semi-trained in Kalaripayattu.
A turning point in her growth came under the mentorship of Alok Ulfat, whose training became a family-like environment of creative expansion. She further honed her screen craft with FTII alumnus Manas Gupta, deepening her understanding of an actor’s inner and outer journey. Shikha believes: “This process never ends. A true actor is always learning.”
Her screen work includes A Social Lie (award-winning short), digital campaigns, and the yet-to-be-released web series Something Is Missing, reflecting the unpredictable path of cinema. She recently launched a heartfelt documentary-talk show on Unfiltered Films YouTube, highlighting real people and their untold stories.
Also crowned First Runner-Up at Mrs. India, and a national silver medalist in powerlifting, she brings strength and sensitivity in equal measure.
Her message:
“Don’t compare your journey. Honour your silence. Learn from your mentors, stay grounded—and your purpose will always find you.”
