The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), organized a financial literacy and investor education training program for district- and block-level Panchayat representatives. The two-day program was held on December 18 and 19, 2025, in Dehradun.
The inaugural session was attended by Mr. Rajiv Kumar Nath Tripathi, Joint Director, and Mr. Manoj Tiwari, Deputy Director, Department of Panchayati Raj, Uttarakhand. Senior SEBI officials were also present, including Ms. Deepti Agrawal, Chief General Manager, Ms. Bala Kumari, Deputy General Manager, and Mr. Joydeep Naskar, Deputy General Manager. Mr. Gaurav Motwani, Chief Manager, NSE, along with other senior officials from the Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj Department, also participated in the program.
The objective of the training was to enhance financial understanding and investment awareness among Panchayat representatives, and to educate them on methods to prevent financial fraud. The program equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical tools to help them guide people in their respective regions toward making informed financial decisions and to strengthen Panchayat-level governance.
This initiative reflects the commitment of SEBI and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj to extend financial awareness to villages and smaller regions through Panchayats, ensuring grassroots-level empowerment and inclusive financial education.
