SAHID CUP FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2025 IN KALIMPONG

The world says that football is a global passion. Football is the most popular sport in the world in terms of number of participants and spectators. Football has reached almost every corner of the world. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Football is loved by everyone from small children to young and old. Football connects and forges close bonds between one race, one language, one culture. Not only that, it promotes joy, hope and unity among people. Football is seen as a force for good, inspiring hope, providing a sense of peace in times of conflict, and creating a shared experience that can bring entire countries together.
Many Gorkhas have become martyrs for their caste, language and land. Many Gorkhas have been sacrificed for the security of the country. We can also say that our soil is soaked in blood. It is our great duty to remember these martyrs and honor the families of the martyrs. Keeping this in mind, a high-level football tournament is being held for everyone in the beautiful district of West Bengal, a beautiful piece of the hills, Kalimpong. United Veterans Club Kalimpong, established in 2012, announced that it will organize the “SAHID CUP FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2025”, and 16 teams have registered their names and the game has started. Among the 16 teams, three are from Nepal, one from Bhutan, and 12 other teams are participating from different parts of India. Kalimpong Police and Georgian Football Club, Kalimpong have got the opportunity to play. This tournament will be in the memory of all the martyrs. In a way, the “Sahid Cup Football Tournament 2025” of Kalimpong district is being played at the international level for the first time in its history.
The United Veterans Club, Kalimpong,declared that this tournament has started again on after 18 years and will be held from 5th September to 21st September 2025. This tournament will be held at the famous sports ground “Mela Ground” in Kalimpong city. The winner in this game will be awarded 8 lakh and the runner –up will be awarded 5 lakh along with a trophy. This is the first time in the history of Kalimpong that such a large amount of money has been given. Playing such a big games has also given a lot of inspiration to the people of Kalimpong and has also become a source of hope for future football players. This international game will also provide great opportunity for local players to learn from it.
Note that another thing is that the Sahid Cup Football Tournament 2025 being held in Kalimpong will increase the number of tourists and will also get benefit financially for small business people.
