New Delhi : redBus, the world’s largest online bus ticketing platform, has launched its Annual BusTrack Report, a comprehensive analysis of India’s intercity travel patterns across private bus operators. As part of this initiative, redBus has released regional insights for Delhi, highlighting the city’s pivotal role in driving intercity bus demand across North India.
In FY25, Delhi registered a strong 45% year-on-year growth in bookings. The rise signals Delhi’s growing dependence on digital platforms for intercity mobility and its centrality in India’s northern bus network.
Key findings for Delhi include:
● Top Intercity Routes: Delhi-Manali, Delhi-Lucknow, Delhi-Dehradun, and Delhi-Rishikesh ranked among the most frequented routes, reflecting a mix of work, pilgrimage, and leisure-driven travel.
● Booking Behaviour: 54% of users made same-day bookings, while 39% booked 1–7 days in advance, underscoring Delhi’s commuter-heavy, high-frequency travel behaviour.
● Phenomenal Growth: Bookings from Delhi doubled year-on-year, indicating a steep rise in digital booking adoption! ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Akshardham, and AIIMS Metro continue to remain popular bus boarding points in Delhi.
● Weekday Preference: 70% of trips originated on weekdays, reflecting the high volume of essential, commuter, and work-related travel tied to Delhi’s urban economy.
● Bus Type Choice: Travellers showed a clear inclination toward comfort, with Sleeper buses accounting for 54%, driven largely by longer-haul northern routes.
The BusTrack Report consolidates insights from April 2024 to March 2025, powered by millions of data points from the redBus platform, offering a data-backed lens into India’s changing mobility landscape.
