The foundation day ceremony held at the historic Garhwal Bhawan in Delhi once again emerged as a symbol of unity, culture, and pride of the Uttarakhandi community. During this grand event organized by the century-old prestigious institution Garhwal Hitaishini Sabha, senior journalist Deep Silodi, hailing from the Pinder Valley region of Chamoli district, was honoured with the ‘Garh Gaurav Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Award–2025’.
This award is conferred in the memory of the great freedom fighter Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali, who set an unparalleled example of patriotism by refusing to open fire on unarmed protesters during the historic Peshawar incident.
Deep Silodi is originally a resident of Guru Patti, Narayanbagar, Pinder Valley in Chamoli district. A fearless journalist who has consistently amplified the voice of the migrant Uttarakhandi community in Delhi-NCR, he has left an indelible mark across various media platforms over the past eight years. At present, he serves as the Editor of Aanchal Patrika News and also holds the responsibility of Media Convenor of the South Delhi Journalists Association.
Through his able leadership and selfless dedication, Deep Silodi has not only ensured that the issues of migrant Uttarakhandis reach the masses through the media, but has also played a significant role in giving the community a distinct identity in political, social, cultural, and organizational spheres.
The recognition bestowed by a reputed organization like Garhwal Hitaishini Sabha stands as a testament to Deep Silodi’s unwavering commitment and dedication, through which he continues to keep the essence and identity of Uttarakhand alive in Delhi-NCR. The numerous honours he has earlier received from district magistrate-level authorities and various organizations further attest to his impactful contributions.
Emerging from a remote region like Pinder Valley and establishing oneself as a well-known and respected face in Delhi’s media landscape is no ordinary achievement. It is a matter of immense pride for the entire Chamoli district, especially for Pinder Valley and his ancestral village.
Journalists like Deep Silodi are true warriors of the Uttarakhandi community—individuals who, even while living away from their homeland, remain deeply connected to their roots and continue to bring honour to their motherland. This recognition is not merely a personal achievement, but a powerful source of inspiration for the entire Uttarakhandi community.
