Kalimpong WB, Almost every country in the world is currently facing various challenges due to poor environmental conditions. Poor environmental conditions, such as pollution and climate change, are having many negative impacts. Poor pollution has a negative impact on human health, ecosystems, and economies, as well as contributing to climate change and reducing the quality of life. The impacts on human health include respiratory problems: air pollution can cause asthma, lung cancer, and heart disease. And contaminated water can cause many diseases, such as cholera and diarrhea. Mental health is linked to a higher risk of problems such as depression and anxiety. Children are also more likely to live in polluted areas and have unsafe drinking water, which puts them at greater risk of health problems. Every country should take this poor environment seriously.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Sahara Trust, Kalimpong has also done a historic work. It has adopted the Komeshi Forest Village, located about six kilometers away from Kalimpong, and has been creating awareness on the subject of environment since last year. Not only has it created awareness but it has also encouraged people to work hard. People of different castes live in this beautiful settlement, which has about one hundred families. Meanwhile, on June 5, Sahara Trust, Kalimpong has distributed fruits like banana, papaya, kiwi, apple and lemon. Due to which the environment around the house will be better and income will be generated through fruits. Sahara Trust Chairman Mr. Yogesh Thapa, along with the advisory group and many members were also present at the program. Speaking at the event, Sahara Trust Chairman Mr. Yogesh Thapa said that our trust has a separate program. We are not doing this program in this village like Planting trees. Planting trees is mandatory in most big cities around the world, but in our hill areas, it is not so necessary because every village has gas cylinders, people have mostly stopped cutting trees. Keeping this in mind, we want to increase the income of farmers by giving them various fruits. Whatever fruits we give to the village, it is for the benefit of every farmer. We want to help farmers to make green village by many fruits trees.
Chief guest Bhanu Thapa said, appreciating the work done by Sahara Trust, he encouraged them to always take this work forward. I want this Komeshi Forest Village settlement to become a model. Eating organic fruits is mandatory. By eating organic food, we can save ourselves from various diseases. The money we earn should be eaten by our children, not by any doctor. That is why we have come to give you various fruits on this Environment Day today, firstly you should be healthy and secondly your income should increase. Not only on World Environment Day but we want to build a relationship with you at other times as well. We farmers should pay attention to chemical-free land and pesticide-free soil.
The patron of Sahara Trust, Mr. Haji Mustag, also emphasized on organic production to the farmers. We have this precious life and it is our main duty to keep it healthy. Organic vegetables and fruits are needed for health. This is what we want to give you. Also, the senior advisor of Sahara Trust, Mr. Y. T. Namchu, wished everyone a happy World Environment Day and urged all the farmers to work hard and told them to take good care of the fruits we have given you. Similarly, another senior advisor, Mrs. Deepa Rani Thakuri, encouraged the villagers and said that you should grow everything organically and we will buy and eat your fruits. Finally, apple and lemon saplings were distributed to everyone in Komeshi Forest Village. And the program ended with an exchange of greetings on the occasion of World Environment Day with enthusiasm.
