New Delhi :

India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC), following recent cross-border exchanges that heightened tensions in the region. The agreement, confirmed by both countries’ military spokespersons, aims to restore calm after a series of incidents that left several civilians and soldiers injured on both sides.

In a joint statement issued on Monday, the two nations reaffirmed their commitment to the 2003 ceasefire understanding and pledged to maintain peace and stability along the heavily militarized border.

“Both sides agreed to strict observance of all agreements, understandings and ceasefire along the Line of Control and all other sectors,” said the Indian Army in a statement echoed by Pakistan’s military.

The development has been welcomed by international observers and peace advocates who see the move as a step toward reducing long-standing hostilities between the nuclear-armed neighbors. Local communities living near the border have also expressed relief, hoping the truce will bring lasting peace to the region.

This agreement follows diplomatic backchannel talks and high-level military communication, signaling a potential thaw in relations that have often been strained by territorial disputes and past conflicts.
