Meerut: Monu Pawar Ghauriya, the state secretary of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) in Uttar Pradesh and a prominent leader of the Gurjar community, was arrested by the administration while traveling to Meerut and was placed under house arrest in his village, Rampur Ghauriya. Pawar Ghauriya has accused the government and administration of adopting an authoritarian stance.

Pawar Ghauriya had been steadfast in raising the concerns of farmers and highlighting the harassment and legal cases faced by the Gurjar community. As soon as the administration got wind of his protest, he was detained en route and confined at his residence. Earlier, during Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit, Pawar Ghauriya had also protested for public interest issues, but even then, the administration had confined him to his home.

From his residence, Monu Pawar held phone discussions with the District Magistrate and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sardhana-Mawana. He made it clear that if the government and administration do not release the arrested Gurjar leaders and activists soon, a large-scale movement will be launched.

Gurjar leaders Pramod Tanwar, Vipin Gurjar Nangla, Bhura, Iqbal, Rahul Gurjar, Ahsan, and other associates were present with him. Pawar Ghauriya stated that the government’s and administration’s authoritarian approach is against the interests of the community and farmers and cannot be tolerated.

The arrest of Monu Pawar Ghauriya has intensified discontent among the Gurjar community and farmers. It remains to be seen how the administration responds to this situation and addresses the demands of the leaders.
