Environmental Call to Action: “Save the Himalayas and Ganga” Awareness Program Held in New Delhi -

On the auspicious occasion of Ganga Dussehra and World Environment Day, a special awareness event titled *“Save the Himalayas and Ganga – A Call from the Environment”* was organized at the India International Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The initiative was spearheaded by Kishore Upadhyay, A.K. Bajpai, and Advocate Dr. Himanshu Upadhyay, who brought together thought leaders, policymakers, and environmental experts to highlight the urgent need for ecological preservation.

Additional Solicitor General Mr. Chetan Sharma emphasized the spiritual and cultural essence of the Ganga, adding, “The Ganga is far more than a river — it is a sacred lifeline for millions. Raising awareness on Ganga Dussehra is not only symbolic but profoundly timely. The organizers deserve commendation for initiating such a meaningful dialogue.”*

The event brought together a distinguished panel of environmentalists and former administrators, including, Mr. G.V.K. Shastri, Mr. Shyamal Sarkar, Dr. Avinash Mishra, Mr. Sinha, Mr. Suresh Kumar Bhandari (Retd. IAS), Mr. Arjun Singh Rana, Mr. Hoshiar Singh Rawat

Speakers expressed serious concern over the accelerating retreat of Himalayan glaciers and the alarming decline in the Ganga’s water levels. They unanimously called for environmental preservation to be embraced not merely as an idea, but as a way of life — urging every citizen to contribute actively to ecological protection.

The program served as both a wake-up call and a commitment to future action. It highlighted not only the environmental urgency at hand but also the need for a nationwide movement rooted in awareness, responsibility, and community participation.

The organizers pledged to transform this campaign into a people’s movement and appealed to the public to join the cause.
