New Delhi: Advocate Harish Gola, General Secretary, Legal and Human Rights Department of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, has written a letter to former Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, expressing grief over the party’s decision to expel an honest and combative leader like District Congress President Gurcharan Singh Raju, and has demanded reconsideration and immediate cancellation of the expulsion of Mr. Raju. In the letter written to Rahul Gandhi, Mr. Gola has said that we, the dedicated workers and office bearers of the Indian National Congress, are constantly striving to realize the objectives of the party’s ideology, organizational strength and public service under your leadership. But we have to inform with great pain and anger that the common workers are shocked by the way the senior leader of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, popular District President of Yamuna Par, Mr. Guru Charan Singh Raju ji has been expelled recently without any proper disciplinary inquiry and without hearing his side. In the letter, Mr. Gola has also said that Mr. Guru Charan Singh Raju has been dedicatedly serving the organization as a true soldier of the Congress Party for the last four decades. Not only is he a hardworking and combative leader, but three generations of his family have been integrally associated with the ideology of Congress and national service. His father was a freedom fighter, and his entire life has been dedicated to the values of Congress. Shri Gola has also written that the expulsion of Shri Raju, a senior and loyal worker, without prior notice, explanation or fair investigation, is a gross violation of organizational processes and democratic traditions. This has caused a lot of internal discontent among the Congress workers not only of East Delhi but of the entire Delhi. Shri Gola said that at present, this is the time to strengthen the organizational unity, coordination and mass base of the Congress, and not to hurt the sentiments of the party members with such arbitrary decisions. This decision has dealt a severe blow to the morale of thousands of hardworking workers who have been serving the party for years without any greed or aspiration. Shri Gola has demanded that keeping in view the organisational programme, meeting or activities, the expulsion of District President Shri Guru Charan Singh Raju Ji should be cancelled and he should be reinstated to his earlier respectable position. In the letter, Shri Gola has said that it is with folded hands and humble request to you that-
1. The expulsion order of Shri Guru Charan Singh Raju should be cancelled with immediate effect. A detailed and transparent investigation of the entire matter should be ensured by forming an impartial inquiry committee.
2. If any unfair process has been done in this matter, then a formal apology should be presented for that.
3. To avoid question marks and doubtful decisions, a clear fair process of disciplinary proceedings should be adopted.
It is hoped in the letter that we aspire for your fair and far-sighted intervention in this context. We have full faith that you will take immediate cognizance of this act done with District President Guru Charan Singh Raju and by cancelling his expulsion, you will re-establish the unity and democratic values of the organisation.
