Pankaj Nath, Assam : Central State Minister Shobha Karandlaj of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Labour & Employment held an extensive review meeting with senior officials of Vishwanath district, Assam, on Wednesday. The minister assessed the progress of various central and state government schemes implemented through around 25 departments in the district, engaging in detailed discussions with department heads. The meeting, held in the conference room of Vishwanath District Commissioner, was attended by Sonitpur Lok Sabha MP Ranjit Dutta, Vishwanath Assembly MLA Pramod Borthakur,
and Bihali Assembly MLA Diganta Ghatwal. The session focused on how these schemes are benefiting the public, followed by directions for proper and effective implementation and monitoring. Minister Karandlaj also shared information about government initiatives aimed at inclusive development to propel the district forward. Following the review meeting, she conducted field inspections of several ongoing projects in the district. She visited the Galiya Jaljeevan Mission site and the Burhigaon Arabadi Gram Panchayat office, interacting with local residents. She also inspected the Vishwanath Ghat (also known as Guptkashi) and toured the paper plate manufacturing industry run by young entrepreneur Nilam Shaiki. The special meeting included key district officials such as District Commissioner Simanta Kumar Das, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajagouran Basumatary, District Council CEO Liza Talukdar, Additional District Commissioner Gireesh Deka, Assamese Borgohai, Assistant Commissioner, along with other senior departmental officers.
