Khandesh level Banjara literary and cultural conference became historic

Chalisgaon : The ‘Khandesh-level Banjara Literature – Culture Conference 2025’ was organized by the Global Banjara Astitva Foundation in Chalisgaon on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the ‘Tandakar Atmaram Rathod’ Sahitya Nagri’ ‘Gorpan Banjara Culture Discussion Forum’.
Senior writer Rajaram Jadhav presided over the conference and Mehtab Singh Naik was present as the welcome speaker.
The chief guests were Pachora taluka MLA Kishore Patil, Nationalist Congress Party state general secretary Krishna Rathod, District Milk Association director Pramod Patil and other dignitaries.
Initially, the conference chairman, welcome chairman and organizing committee members offered floral tributes to the statues of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.A procession was taken out from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk to the meeting place, performing traditional songs and folk dances on the traditional instrument, the Thali Nangara, in traditional costumes for both men and women.
Various Banjara literary works, including the Constitution, were kept in the library.
On the occasion of this literary conference, story sessions, poets’ conferences, folk art presentations, and women’s conferences were organized.
The session, chaired by Maharashtra Bhushan Award-winning Banjara artist Morsingh Rathod, featured a folk tradition presentation by teams from different tribes of Khandesh.
The musical presentation in the dialect about education, public awareness, and the work of Vasantraoji Naik through the Thali Nangara Prabodhan Bhajan created an ideological wave in the atmosphere.
The winners of the popular Doordarshan show Tak Dhina Dhina, the women’s group from Nalbandi Tanda, performed a lengi dance performance at the convention.
Enthusiasm spread. As a memento of this literary conference, a souvenir titled ‘Banjara Culture’ and other books were released by dignitaries.
The literary conference was enlivened by the spirited moderation of poet Niranjan Mude, the lively presentation by story writer Professor Ghanshyam Rathod, and the poetry in Gorboli language presented by various poets.
A symposium was organized on the topic ‘The contribution of women in the Banjara community to progress’ under the chairmanship of senior thinker Kalatai Rathod.
A symposium on the topic ‘Banjara Literature and Future Direction’ was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Dilip Rathod. Prof. Dr. Yuvraj Pawar, Prof. Sultan Rathod and Mr. Patil participated in it.
Damal publication Chandrapur, Gor Banjara publication, Nagpur had set up book stalls and stalls selling Banjara ornaments and jewellery at this place.
At the conclusion of the conference, some resolutions were passed in the presence of everyone.
All the literary lovers approved all these resolutions and the resolutions were unanimously passed.
To make the program a success, the organization’s president Ashok Rathod, Jaywant Gofane, Roop Singh Jadhav, Yogeshwar Rathod, Darasingh Chavan, Sunil Banjara, Jaywant Gofane,Amol Rathod, Adv. Bharat Chavan, Gajanan Chavan, Chitra Jadhav, Eknath Gophane, Durga Gophane etc. worked hard. The dignitaries expressed their views that this literary conference would be a guide for the Banjara language.
