Kashmir – A Journey Beyond Time Book Released at IICC in New Delhi
A memorable and inspiring book release ceremony of Kashmir – A Journey Beyond Time, authored by Md. Irshad Ahmad, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, was held at the India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC), Lodhi Road, New Delhi, in the presence of distinguished personalities from the legal, academic, literary and social fields.
The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Salman Khurshid, Senior Advocate, former Union Minister and President, India Islamic Cultural Centre. Justice Iqbal Ansari, former Chief Justice, Patna High Court, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Among the distinguished guests present were Dr. Pradeep Rai, Senior Advocate and President, Supreme Court Bar Association, S. M. Qamar Alam, former Bihar MLC, Mr. Khawaja M. Shahid, Member, Board of Trustees, IICC and Convenor, HRD & Library, and a large number of senior advocates and members of the Supreme Court Bar.
Briefing the gathering about his book, Advocate Irshad Ahmad said that “Kashmir-A Journey Beyond Time” is a deeply personal travel memoir inspired by his memorable journey through Kashmir. He explained that the idea of writing the book emerged from his desire to preserve the extraordinary memories of Kashmir’s natural beauty, serene landscapes, lakes, mountains, valleys, Mughal gardens, Chinar trees and, above all, the warmth and hospitality of its people.
He emphasised that the book is not a conventional travel guide or a political narrative, but a personal account of nature, culture, friendship, hospitality and human experiences. He said his intention was to share with readers the Kashmir he personally experienced and to capture those moments that continued to remain alive in his memory long after returning from the journey.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Salman Khurshid appreciated the book and praised the author for bringing his personal experiences of Kashmir into a literary form. He highlighted the importance of travel writing in preserving memories, experiences and cultural impressions.
Justice Iqbal Ansari also spoke about the book and appreciated its contents, particularly its emphasis on Kashmir’s natural beauty, cultural richness and human dimensions.
Dr. Pradeep Rai praised Advocate Irshad Ahmad for his literary initiative and described the book as a remarkable effort to transform a memorable journey into a meaningful work that can be shared with a wider readership.
The presence of several Supreme Court advocates, senior members of the legal fraternity, friends, colleagues and well-wishers added warmth and distinction to the occasion.
