Assam’s Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited Gelapukhuri in Tinsukia district, met the bereaved families of those who tragically lost their lives in a recent road accident in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh and spent time with them. Chief Minister Dr. Sarma meeting the families, expressed his deep condolences and shared their sorrow. He also wished speedy recovery to the person who narrowly survived the accident and is currently undergoing treatment. He asked Tinsukia district administration to take all necessary steps to ensure proper medical care. The Chief Minister to day formally handed over cheques of Rs. 5 lakh each as one-time. In addition, financial assistance of 1 lakh from the Chief Minister’ s Relief Fund was provided for the treatment of the injured person. The Chief Minister directed the District Commissioner to ensure that the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic accident, who have not yet been covered under the Orunodoi scheme or provided with ration cards, are extended the benefits at the earliest. He also instructed the district administration to provide necessary support for the education of the children of the affected families. During the visit, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister Water Resources etc Pijush Hazarika, Minister Industries and Commerce Bimal Bora, Minister Tea Tribes and Labour Welfare Rupesh Gowala, MLAs Sanjay Kishan, Bolin Chetia, Bhaskar Sarma, Ponakon Baruah and others.
