Report: Mo. Rashid Saifi, Senior Journalist
Saifni / District Rampur
Once again, the sacred land of Saifni will be adorned with the colors of Sufi spirituality.
The annual Urs-e-Pak at Dargah-e-Aalia Hazrat Sheikh Bhure Shah Miyan Rahmatullah Alaih will commence on November 3 (Monday) and continue for five days, concluding with the morning prayers of Kul Sharif on November 8 (Saturday).
This Urs is renowned not only in Rampur district but across North India for its spiritual dignity, Sufiana atmosphere, and message of peace and love.
Dargah Committee Preparations Complete
Abdul Rauf Ansari Ashrafi Advocate, Manager of the Dargah Intezamia Committee, stated that considering the large influx of pilgrims, arrangements have been strengthened this time.
Lighting, clean water, security, parking, and separate seating for women have been arranged.
The Nagar Panchayat administration and local police are also active in maintaining order during the Urs.
Abdul Rauf Ansari said —
“People from every religion and every class visit the Dargah of Hazrat Bhure Shah Miyan Rahmatullah Alaih. This place conveys the message of peace, love, and humanity. Our aim is to elevate this spiritual tradition of the Awliya-e-Kiram even further.”
Hazrat Sheikh Bhure Shah Miyan Rahmatullah Alaih — Who Turned a Jungle into a Haven of Peace
According to historians, Hazrat Sheikh Bhure Shah Miyan Rahmatullah Alaih originally hailed from Sirhind (Punjab). About four hundred years ago, he arrived in the town of Thothar (now part of Rampur city) in Rampur district and later settled permanently in Saifni.
During that time, Nawab Syed Faizullah Khan, the founder of the Rampur principality, appointed him as “Qazi-e-Saifni” (Qazi of the 84-village estate).
He established his special residence in the southern part of Saifni, in what was then a dense jungle — where snakes, scorpions, and wild animals were common.
But due to his spiritual influence, that area became a “safe” zone where no one was harmed.
Miracles That Remain Alive Even Today
It is famously said that once dacoits set fire to his house, but the flames could not touch him.
His cap and hair are still preserved in the Dargah as a sign of that miracle.
Another well-known miracle dates back to the era of the Nawab of Rampur.
When the Nawab wanted to build a wall near Hazrat’s mausoleum for his mansion, the wall kept collapsing repeatedly.
Finally, in a dream, Hazrat instructed the Nawab —
“Build the wall outside our boundary.”
When this instruction was followed, the wall stood firm — and it still exists near the Dargah in the same form today.
Locals say that even today, within the Dargah’s boundary, no one is bitten by snakes or scorpions; this is counted among Hazrat’s miracles.

Sufi Message — Expression of Peace, Love, and Humanity
The Dargah Committee states that the true purpose of Urs-e-Pak is to spread the teachings of the Awliya-Allah, which are based on humanity and love.
This Urs is not merely a religious ritual but a living symbol of Ganga-Jamuni culture and Sufi tradition.
The Committee has appealed to pilgrims and locals —
“Participate in large numbers in this Urs-e-Pak and spread the message of peace and love of the Sufi saints. This is the true remembrance of the Awliya.”
