NAFED’s 68th AGM: A Gathering of Cooperatives for a Prosperous Future

New Delhi: The 68th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED) was held today at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Over 700 representatives from various member societies and state associations from across India graced the event.
In his inaugural address, NAFED Chairman Shri Jethabhai Ahir thanked the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, for creating a separate Ministry for the welfare of the cooperative sector and entrusting the leadership of this Ministry to the Honorable Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah. He further stated that the Ministry has provided a dedicated administrative, legal, and policy framework to cooperatives, strengthening the cooperative movement, promoting ‘Sahakar se Samriddhi’ (prosperity through cooperation), and facilitating cooperative operations.NAFED's 68th AGM: A Gathering of Cooperatives for a Prosperous Future hummernews.in


The Chairman explained how PACS have been made self-reliant through multi-purpose business activities such as LPG distribution, petrol pumps, grain storage, service centers, and medicine distribution, which have not only empowered PACS but also ensured the availability of essential products and services at reasonable prices in villages. In recognition of the association’s exceptional performance last year, he announced a 15% dividend to member associations/committees.
He further explained that NAFED has established its presence in global markets for the sale and distribution of NAFED brand products. The organization also participated in the prestigious Gulfood 2025 event in Dubai in February 2025, providing a platform to showcase its products to global buyers and strengthen its international visibility.
The NAFED Chairman expressed his gratitude to the Honorable Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Honorable Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Shri Prahlad Joshi, the state governments, and all agencies whose guidance and support enabled NAFED to serve farmers by implementing various schemes.
NAFED screened a special film and highlighted key initiatives, including storage planning, ERP implementation, NAFED’s own auction portal nafex.in, international trade expansion, and supply of essential commodities to the Army, CRPF, and AIIMS.
In his keynote address, the Managing Director of NAFED presented the Federation’s performance report. He stated that during the financial year 2024-25, NAFED achieved a turnover of 26,946.59 crore and a net profit of 565.22 crore.
He further informed that under the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, NAFED plans to open 500 NAFED Bazaar stores in collaboration with PACS, Farmer Producer Organizations, and FPCs, of which more than 50 stores are already operational.
The Managing Director of NAFED stated that on the international front, NAFED, as a promoter member of the newly established NCEL, has exported 408,390 metric tons of rice to African countries such as Senegal, Gambia, and Côte d’Ivoire, as well as Bhutan. He also informed that the organization has recently implemented an ERP system, developed its own auction portal, and adopted AI/ML technologies in its operations.
Representatives from NAFED member societies across India, who attended the Annual General Body Meeting, were invited to the stage and requested to share their valuable suggestions for the betterment of farmers.
Finally, Mr. Tarlok Singh, Vice President of NAFED, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all present during the Annual General Body Meeting and delivered the vote of thanks, commending the unwavering commitment and collective efforts of the NAFED team.
NAFED will continue to work for the betterment of farmers across the country by providing them with remunerative prices and ready markets for their produce and other services.
