New Delhi: Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Haq Muhaddis Dehlvi (R.A.), honored with esteemed titles such as “Muhaddis-e-Delhi,” “Sheikh-ul-Muhaqqiqeen,” and “Imam-e-Hind,” was a towering Islamic scholar, Sufi saint, and an unparalleled authority on Hadith. Born in 958 Hijri (1551 CE) in Delhi, he departed this mortal world in 1052 Hijri (1642 CE) at the age of 94. His blessed shrine lies in Islam Colony near Shamsi Talab, Mehrauli Sharif, New Delhi, where thousands of devotees continue to pay their respects.
Sheikh Sahib authored invaluable works on Hadith, Fiqh, Tasawwuf, and Sufi traditions, including Akhbar-ul-Akhyar, Zubdat-ul-Asrar, Takmeel-ul-Iman, and Tareekh-e-Haqqi, which remain celebrated to this day. His pioneering role in promoting the knowledge of Hadith in India and his defense of Sufi traditions—such as the celebration of Milad-un-Nabi—hold a permanent place in Islamic history.
