THE ASMITA TAEKWONDO LEAGUE COMPETITION HAS BEEN HELD IN MALDA DISTRICT IN SATYA CHOWDHURY INDOOR STADIUM UNDER THE AUSPICES OF KHELO INDIA.

Among the many countries in the world, India is also competing in everything. It is moving forward in the business sector. Things like new technology are no less than other countries. Even business is also no less than other countries. India’s power and prosperity have reached the whole world. While India is not a developed but is moving forward as a developing country. India has also been able to make a name for itself in the field of sports. The country is not only known for Cricket, Football, Hockey, Kabaddi, but another sport, “Taekwondo”, is also a popular sport in India. This Taekwondo sport has also reached every corner of India. 
We most summon up that, to prevent conflict and promote justice and freedom, to promote a peaceful in the world by using discipline of body and mind. This “Taekwondo”, is always completed with the message of principles such as courtesy, integrityand self-control.
Similarly, Taekwondo has recently flourished in the Malda District of West Bengal. On Saturday and Sunday, August 16 and 17, 2025, the Satya Chowdhury Indoor Stadium in Malda District of West Bengal hosted the Asmita Taekwondo League competition under the auspices of Khelo India. Girls from different districts of West Bengal came to participate in the competition, while the Kalimpong District Taekwondo Association and Darjeeling Zilla Hills Taekwondoa Association also selected girls from various clubs and schools in December last year. Twelve girls from Kalimpong were selected for the Asmita Taekwondo League competition, while 9 (nine) girls participated in different weight categories due to illness of 3 of them. And 9 girls are selected from Darjeeling. The names and ages of the girls selected from Kalimpong District are as follows:-
Swastika Sharma -10, Rebha Chhetri -10, Drithi Rai – 10, Newsang Lepcha -10, Shubheksha ishwakarma -12, Richal ishwakarma -15, Simran Rai -14, Choden Shrepa -14, Nishu Rai -20, Coach Ms. Ashwini Thapa,Team Manager Mr. Yogesh Thapa, Team Head Mr. Tashi Dorjee Sherpa.
The team manager Kalimpong District Taekwondo Association Yogesh Thapa said that Reva Chhetri and Drithi Rai of Kalimpong District Taekwondo Association emerged victorious over competitors from different districts. The entire Kalimpong District Taekwondo Association is happy that these girls have not only brought glory to the name of the organization but also to the name of Kalimpong District by winning 2 bronze medals in the district-level sports competition. We wish the two girls all the best for their future and wish them a bright future. We also express our gratitude and encouragement to them.
Similarly, the names of the children and team representatives who participated in the Asmita competition from the Darjeeling District Hill Taekwondo Association are as follows:
Ashika Thapa -16, Angelina Lepcha -15, Tulsi Thami -19, Asha Gurung -17, Rumi Khatoon – 16, Nimsang Gurung -17, Annuragi Chowhan -15, Radhika Chhetri -17, Anwesha Mukhia -16.
The team representative coach was Anandiya Gajmer (Pappu) National Referee, and Ratan Sinchiuri, Senior Coach, represented the Darjeeling Hill District Taekwondo Association. Four girls from Darjeeling have not only achieved a great achievement by winning bronze medals but have also brought glory to the Darjeeling district. The bronze medal winning players are: Asha Gurung -17, Angelina Lepcha -15, Nimsang Gurung -17,Anuragi Chowhan – 15
The said sports competition was held under the auspices of Khelo India, which was organized and conducted by the Taekwondo Association of West Bengal, informed by Yogesh Thapa, General Secretary of Kalimpong District Taekwondo Association, Kalimpong District, West Bengal.
