Rahul meets families of Gujarat bridge collapse victims
Attends ‘Sangathan Srujan Abhiyan’ in Anand
NEW DELHI : Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi today met the families of the victims of the Gambhira bridge collapse in Gujarat.
While expressing condolences to the bereaved families, Gandhi shared their pain and grief and told them that the Congress party stood by them in this hour of grief and sorrow. He said the tragedy was caused due to the gross negligence of the government and the corrupt system prevailing in Gujarat. “We are with you in these difficult times,” he assured the victim families, while underlining the need for proper compensation to them.
Gandhi also met the district presidents during their training session in Anand, under the Sangathan Srujan Abhiyan. Expressing confidence over the progress made in training and empowering the party at the grassroots level, he said, “We are constantly moving forward towards strengthening the organisation from the roots by providing training, support, and guidance to the district presidents.”
Earlier during the day, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha also met and interacted with the cooperative milk producers and the leaders of the cooperative community in Jitodia of Anand district of Gujarat. “We are fully committed towards empowering the indigenous producers by raising their voice and extending all support and cooperation they need,” he assured the milk producers.
AICC General Secretary In-Charge of Gujarat Mukul Wasnik, Gujarat state Congress President Amit Chavda, CLP leader Dr Tushar Chaudhary and a number of state Congress leaders were also present on the occasion.
