Noida : Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida, is proud to announce a momentous achievement of its Grade 8 student, Rudra Srivastava, who clinched the Gold Medal in the Under-15 Boys Sub-Junior Badminton Championship (Singles), at the Special Olympics Bharat Badminton Nationals 2025, held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Rudra represented Special Olympics Bharat – Delhi at the national-level event hosted by the Gujarat Chapter from June 14 to 19 2025. His outstanding performance in the tournament brought glory not only to the Delhi contingent, which secured a total of four Gold and three silver medals, but also to GIIS Noida, which continues to uphold the values of inclusivity, resilience, and holistic development.
This victory goes far beyond the accolades; it is a powerful reflection of Rudra’s unwavering determination, sportsmanship, and love for the game.
Speaking on the achievement, Ganesh Sharma, Principal, Global Indian International School, Noida, said, “Rudra’s success is a moment of immense pride for all of us. It underlines the importance of an inclusive and supportive learning environment. We believe in nurturing every student’s unique potential, and Rudra’s Gold medal is a shining example of that vision in action. We wholeheartedly congratulate him and his family,” adding, “GIIS Noida remains committed to empowering students through a balanced approach to academics, sports, and character building, ensuring that champions are built not just in classrooms, but in every sphere of life.”
An ecstatic Rudra Srivastava said, “Winning the Gold medal feels like a dream come true. I play because I love the game, and I never gave up, even when things got tough. This victory is for everyone who believed in me, especially my family, coaches, and teachers. I’m proud to represent my school and Special Olympics Bharat – Delhi.”
“Our journey began when GIIS Noida hosted a Special Olympics session last year. That’s when we saw a spark in Rudra. Archery didn’t click, but badminton did and he’s never looked back. From rigorous daily training to competing with and defeating neurotypical players, Rudra’s dedication has been extraordinary. Watching him win Gold at the nationals is a moment of immense pride, not just for the medal, but for the determination he shows every single day,” said Sumit Srivastava, Rudra’s father.
With this significant win under his belt, Rudra now sets his sights on representing India at the world-level Special Olympics Bharat Games, continuing his inspiring journey from the courts of Noida to the global stage.
