New Delhi :

Smt. Champa Singh, a prominent social activist and mother of senior journalist Rakesh Kumar Singh, celebrated her 75th birthday on Tuesday at the Ashoka Hotel in New Delhi. The celebration was an intimate gathering of family members and select guests who came together to honour her lifelong dedication to public welfare.

Smt. Singh has been actively working on issues related to women’s rights and education, especially focusing on raising awareness in underserved communities. Her efforts have empowered many young girls to continue their education and have helped women find their voice in difficult circumstances.

She is also the niece of India’s first Parliamentary Affairs and Information & Broadcasting Minister, Satya Narain Sinha, who represented the Samastipur (then Darbhanga) Lok Sabha constituency of Bihar from 1948 to 1969 and later served as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh from 1971 to 1977.

Union Law Secretary Anju Rathi Rana and her husband R.S. Rana, Public Prosecutor for the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation, joined the event and conveyed their warm wishes to Smt. Singh.

Also present on the occasion was Parul Singh, wife of Rakesh Kumar Singh and President of the Delhi State Para Olympic Committee, who warmly extended her gratitude to all guests for joining in the celebration of Smt. Singh’s inspiring journey.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Champa Singh said, “I never imagined my small steps would touch so many lives. At 75, I feel more committed than ever to stand with those who are unheard, especially women and children who deserve every opportunity to grow.”

Reflecting on the day, Rakesh Kumar Singh said, “My mother has quietly shaped our lives with her patience, discipline, and care. This birthday is not just a number, it’s a reminder of her journey and what she continues to mean to all of us.”

The celebration included cake-cutting, light interactions among guests, and a family dinner in an informal setting. The evening served as a warm tribute to Smt. Singh’s life and values.
