Sony SAB’s ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’ champions women’s safety with the upcoming episodes on self-defence

Mumbai : Sony SAB’s ‘Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey’ continues to win hearts with its relatable and heartwarming family moments. The show has also been known for addressing pressing and socially relevant issues with remarkable compassion and the upcoming story on women’s self-defence highlights the challenges of our society while inspiring change through compassion and understanding.
In the upcoming episodes, young Kittu (Mahi Soni) expresses a desire to join a self-defence class. While Dakku (Deepak Pareek) and Harshad (Amit Soni) initially dismiss the idea, believing girls don’t need to learn to defence, Rajesh Wagle (Sumeet Raghavan) offers a contrasting and progressive perspective as he believes every girl has the right to protect herself just like any boy does. When Sakhi (Chinmayee Salvi) and Gungun (Nandini Maurya) face harassment on a bus, it becomes a wake-up call for Harshad, who reconsiders his stance and admits Rajesh was right all along. Then, a martial arts trainer enters Sai Darshan Society to conduct self-defence training for all the women. As the men fumble with daily chores, the women step up and learn to fight. Eventually, they devise a plan to board the same bus again to expose the harassers.
Will the self-defence training empower the girls to take a stand and drive home the message that safety and strength are for everyone, regardless of gender?
Sumeet Raghvan, who essays the role of Rajesh Wagle, said, “Rajesh Wagle is an inspiration in the way he consistently stands up for gender equality, whether at home or in society. Here too, he firmly believes that if girls want to learn self-defence, they not only have the right but also the need to do so. He believes girls should be whatever they want to be; strong, independent, and unafraid. As a father, while his instinct is to protect, he knows true protection lies in empowering them to protect themselves. This track is important, and I’m so glad the show is taking it up with such sensitivity. It’s a conversation that needs to reach every household that safety and strength aren’t just for boys — they’re for everyone.”
